Our Work
An Fóram Uisce – the Water Forum is a national statutory body, established in June 2018, to provide a platform for stakeholder engagement on all matters relating to water as an environmental, social and economic resource. The Water Forum provides an opportunity for stakeholders to debate and analyse a range of issues with regard to water quality, rural water concerns, issues affecting customers of Irish Water and the implementation of the Water Framework Directive and the River Basin Management Plan for Ireland.
What We Do
Governance & Stakeholder Engagement
We bring stakeholders together to strengthen collaboration and water governance across Ireland.
- Facilitate dialogue and collaboration across the water sector
- Support Forum members to engage effectively in water policy discussions
- Maintain strong relationships with government departments, LAWPRO, Uisce Éireann, the CRU, the EPA, rural water
- Support implementation of Ireland’s River Basin Management Plan, including measures on water quality, conservation and rural water services
Research - Science to Policy
We connect science, policy and practice to improve water management in Ireland.
- Promote water quality and sustainable management of Ireland’s water resources
- Identify emerging water challenges and research gaps
- Act as a platform to bring national and international research to water policy and management in Ireland
- Support evidence-based approaches to water policy and decision-making
Policy Development & Advice
We provide independent, evidence-based advice on water policy.
- Use research and evidence to inform water policy
- Develop policy recommendations based on research and stakeholder views
- Represent balanced perspectives from across sectors in national water policy discussions
- Promote coordinated approaches to water management
Communications & Outreach
We share knowledge and insights to inform discussion and improve understanding of water policy and governance in Ireland.
